COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – While the initial NCHC Honor Roll for the 2025-26 season was announced in February, a total of 96 National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) freshmen and first-year transfers have been added to the 2025-26 NCHC Honor Roll for their classroom performance after completing a full academic year at their new institution. Among the 96 newcomers, 70 were also tabbed Distinguished Scholar-Athletes for achieving a 3.5 grade-point average or better.
The NCHC first tabbed
113 student-athletes to the 2025-26 Honor Roll in February, who were sophomores, juniors, seniors or grad students, while 83 of those returning student-athletes were also named a Distinguished Scholar-Athlete. Adding in the newcomers who have now finished the academic year, a total of 209 student-athletes landed on the NCHC Honor Roll in 2025-26, with 153 of them garnering Distinguished Scholar-Athlete recognition.
To earn a spot on the NCHC Honor Roll (previously called Academic All-Conference), a student-athlete must compile a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (or better) and have completed a full academic year at their current institution. Similarly, to receive NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete must attain a 3.5 cumulative GPA or better with a full year of academic studies. Freshmen and first-year transfers were not eligible when NCHC academic accolades were first announced in February. Athletic success and playing time are not criteria for these awards.
Among freshmen and first-year transfers only, Arizona State and Miami led the way with 14 student-athletes added to the NCHC Honor Roll. Colorado College and Omaha each placed 13 newcomers on the Honor Roll, while Denver, Minnesota Duluth and North Dakota added 10 per team. All nine NCHC teams placed at least four newcomers on the 2025-26 NCHC Honor Roll.
Overall in 2025-26, Colorado College led the NCHC with 27 members on the Honor Roll, which is all eligible players on the team, while Denver was second with all 25 players on its roster being recognized. Arizona State and Minnesota Duluth saw 24 student-athletes make the NCHC Honor Roll, while Omaha and Western Michigan each placed 23 on the Honor Roll. All nine teams had at least 20 student-athletes make the NCHC Honor Roll this past season.
Among Distinguished Scholar-Athletes, Colorado College saw 11 freshmen and first-year transfers earn at least a 3.5 GPA, while Arizona State, Denver and Omaha had 10 newcomers named Distinguished Scholar-Athletes. Miami, UMD and North Dakota are home to seven newcomer Distinguished Scholar-Athletes each. All NCHC teams had at least two newcomers named Distinguished Scholar-Athletes with a 3.5 GPA or better.
As a whole in 2025-26, Colorado College and Denver tied for the NCHC lead with 23 Distinguished Scholar-Athletes. Arizona State, Minnesota Duluth and Western Michigan are each home to 17 Distinguished Scholar-Athletes this year, while every NCHC team had at least 12 student-athletes earn the recognition for having a 3.5 GPA or better.
In addition to the NCHC Honor Roll and Distinguished Scholar-Athletes, the NCHC
unveiled its new Academic All-Conference Team in March, featuring one student-athlete from all nine members. The NCHC is also home to
24 CSC Academic All-District honorees this year, including a
trio of Academic All-Americans, and
56 AHCA All-American Scholars in 2025-26.
The complete list of freshmen and first-year transfers who earned NCHC Honor Roll and Distinguished Scholar-Athlete honors in 2025-2026 is below, with Distinguished Scholar-Athletes (3.5 cumulative GPA or better) noted in
