LAS VEGAS – For the second straight year, five National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) student-athletes have been named CCM/AHCA All-Americans, as the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA)
announced the 2025-26 All-Americans on Friday night as part of the Hobey Baker Award ceremony at the Park MGM in Las Vegas. Three NCHC players were tabbed to the First Team, making up half of the West All-American First Team, while two were placed on the Second Team.
Four different NCHC teams are represented among this year’s All-Americans, led by a pair of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in sophomore forward
Max Plante, who was selected a First-Team West All-American, and sophomore defenseman
Ty Hanson, who garnered Second-Team West All-American honors. Plante was also named the 2026 Hobey Baker Award winner on Friday night. Joining Plante on the All-American First Team are two NCHC blueliners in North Dakota junior
Jake Livanavage and Denver junior
Eric Pohlkamp. Also landing on the All-American Second Team along with Hanson is St. Cloud State junior forward
Tyson Gross.
Livanavage, who signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, earns All-American honors for the second straight season after picking up Second-Team accolades last year from the AHCA. He is one of only three repeat All-Americans from 2025 and one of only two repeat honorees on the West All-America teams.
Minnesota Duluth is one of only four teams with at least two All-Americans this season, along with Michigan State, Massachusetts and Northeastern. The NCHC’s five All-Americans tie with the Big Ten for second-most from one conference behind Hockey East’s seven on the East All-American Teams.
In addition to his Hobey Baker Award,
Plante (Hermantown, Minn.) earned both
NCHC Player of the Year and NCHC Forward of the Year honors while being the lone unanimous selection to the All-NCHC First Team this season. The Detroit Red Wings draft pick leads the NCHC and ties for third nationally with 52 points in 40 games this season (1.30 ppg). His 25 goals also pace the NCHC and tie for second in the NCAA.
Plante buried six game-winning goals this year to tie for first in the NCHC and third in the country. The UMD assistant captain also dished out 27 assists while posting a +19 plus/minus. His 152 shots on goal this season tie for third nationally and rank second behind Pohlkamp in the NCHC.
Livanavage (Phoenix, Ariz.) garnered First-Team All-NCHC honors for the second straight season after racking up 25 points on five goals and 20 assists in 39 games this year. The UND assistant captain ranked sixth among NCHC blueliners in scoring and in the top 20 nationally. The newest member of the Pittsburgh Penguins blocked 51 shots this season, while posting a +15 plus/minus and averaging more than 25 minutes of time on ice per game. He was the only NCHC blueliner to be a finalist for both Offensive and Defensive Defenseman of the Year in the conference. Livanavage was also the National Defenseman of the Month in December.
Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn.) was a Hobey Hat Trick Finalist this season, as well as the NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year and a First-Team All-NCHC honoree. The San Jose Sharks draft pick leads all NCAA blueliners with 39 points in 42 games this year (0.93 ppg), while his 18 goals are six more than any other defenseman in the country. The 18 markers also break the NCHC single-season record for goals by a defenseman (record was 15). In addition, Pohlkamp is one of only five NCAA blueliners with a hat trick this season. His three game-winning goals tie for fourth nationally among rearguards.
Along with his goals, Pohlkamp has handed out 21 assists, which tie for 11th among NCAA defensemen and fourth in the NCHC. He boasts a +24 plus/minus on the year, which is tied for seventh among NCAA defensemen. His 78 blocked shots lead the NCHC and are sixth nationally on the year, while averaging 24 minutes of time on ice per game. Pohlkamp has also fired 188 shots on goal this season, which leads all NCAA skaters regardless of position by 30 shots. He will play for a National Championship Saturday night as the Pioneers battle Wisconsin for the NCAA title.
Hanson (Hermantown, Minn.) was a Second-Team All-NCHC selection this year and a finalist for NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year. The undrafted free agent finished the season second nationally among blueliners with 36 points in 40 games behind only Pohlkamp. Hanson potted 10 goals this year, which tied for second in the NCHC and sixth nationally among defensemen, while dishing out 26 assists, which tied for second among all NCAA blueliners. The UMD assistant captain posted a +16 plus/minus this season, while blocking 47 shots. Hanson also fired 124 shots on goal on the year, which was fifth among defensemen nationally, while averaging 25:37 time on ice, which led the NCHC and was fifth in the NCAA.
Gross (Calgary, Alberta), who signed an NHL contract with his hometown Calgary Flames after the season and already made his NHL debut on March 22, was a First-Team All-NCHC honoree this year and the NCHC Defensive Forward of the Year, as well as a finalist for NCHC Player of the Year. The SCSU captain led his team with 41 points and 23 assists, while ranking second on the squad with 18 goals. His 41 points rank sixth in the NCHC, while averaging 1.14 points per game in 36 contests. Gross scored three game-winning goals and two short-handed tallies, while leading the country with 489 faceoff wins and ranking eighth with a 58.9 win percentage in the center circle.
The NCHC has now produced
72 AHCA All-Americans in conference history (since 2013-14), including 37 First-Teamers.
A total of 24 players from 19 different teams were honored as 2025-2026 All-Americans on Friday, with 12 on the East Teams and 12 on the West Teams. The AHCA Division I Men’s All-American teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association, including all NCAA Division I men’s head coaches.
