FORWARD OF THE WEEK
50073Zaccharya Wisdom, Western Michigan
Junior Forward
Toronto, Ont.

Wisdom continued to be a strong addition for the Broncos, totaling four points in No. 4 Western Michigan’s dominant sweep of Arizona State last weekend. The Seattle Kraken draft pick tallied three points in Friday’s 6-2 win, assisting on WMU’s first goal, as well as the game-winner, while scoring on the power play in the final frame to seal the win. On Saturday, Wisdom broke a 2-2 deadlock midway through the second period with the game-winning goal leading to a 7-2 victory. He was named Second Star of the Game both nights.

Wisdom finished the weekend with two goals and two assists, having a hand in both game-winners. He fired seven shots on goal and posted a +2 plus/minus against ASU, while helping WMU’s penalty kill finish a perfect, 8-for-8 on the weekend. The Colorado College transfer scored both of his goals on the power play as the Broncos went 6-for-13 a man up. On the season, Wisdom is fourth on the team with 24 points, while his 14 goals are third for Western Michigan.

DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
50044Abram Wiebe, North Dakota
Junior Defenseman
Mission, B.C.

Wiebe was once again stellar on the North Dakota blue line to earn his second straight Defenseman of the Week honor. The Calgary Flames prospect was a force at both ends of the ice in a pair of wins over No. 20 Miami, starting on Friday as he helped UND to a 1-0 shutout victory, while limiting the RedHawks to only 12 shots on goal. On Saturday, his offensive skills shined in a 4-3 overtime win. Trailing 3-1 in the third period, Wiebe started the rally with a highlight-reel pass to make it a 3-2 game, before scoring his first career overtime game-winner to complete the comeback. He was named First Star of the Game on Saturday.

Wiebe finished the series with two points on a game-winning goal and primary assist. The UND assistant captain also blocked three shots by the RedHawks, posted a +1 plus/minus and put three shots on goal over the weekend. Wiebe is now tied for fifth among NCHC defensemen with 21 points (4g/17a) on the season, including seven points in his last six games.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
50215Johnny Hicks, Denver
Freshman Goaltender
Kamloops, B.C.

Hicks continued his strong run of play since taking over the Denver net last month, backstopping the No. 8 Pioneers to a sweep at Omaha. The freshman stayed unbeaten in his young career, compiling 31 saves on 33 shots in the series-opening 5-2 victory, making double-digit stops all three periods. On Saturday, Hicks turned aside 26 of 27 shots in a 3-1 win, including half of those 26 saves coming in the final frame of a one-goal game. He was named Third Star of the Game in the series finale.

Hicks completed the series with 57 saves on 60 shots for a .950 save percentage, which led NCHC goalies with two starts on the weekend. He also posted a 1.51 goals-against average, also first among two-start netminders on the weekend. Of his 57 saves, 10 came short-handed, while he allowed only one even-strength goal all weekend.
