ST. LOUIS – Five National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) players from four teams have been selected 2024-2025 CCM/AHCA Division I All-Americans, as the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) revealed this season’s All-Americans as part of the Hobey Baker Award ceremony and Frozen Four festivities Friday night at the Stifel Theater in St. Louis.
A trio of NCHC players garnered First-Team West All-America honors in Denver sophomore defenseman
Zeev Buium, DU senior forward
Jack Devine and Western Michigan sophomore forward
Alex Bump. Buium and Devine are repeat First-Team All-Americans, two of only three First-Team repeats this year (along with Boston College goalie Jacob Fowler). Denver is also one of only five teams with multiple All-Americans in 2024-25.
On the All-America West Second Team are Arizona State grad student forward
Artem Shlaine and North Dakota sophomore defenseman
Jake Livanavage. All five NCHC All-Americans were also named First-Team All-NCHC in 2024-25.
Buium (San Diego, Calif.) is also in the Hobey Hat Trick as one of three finalists for the 2025 Hobey Baker Award. The 2024-25
NCHC Player of the Year and unanimous First-Team All-NCHC selection was also named to
College Hockey News’ All-CHN First Team on Monday. Buium was a unanimous repeat selection for NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year, as well. The Minnesota Wild first round draft pick was tabbed Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Manchester Regional after scoring two goals, totaling five points in two games and leading DU back to the NCAA Frozen Four.
After setting an NCHC record for a defenseman with 50 points as a freshman, Buium leads all NCAA defensemen with 48 points in 41 games this season, with his point total tied for 11th nationally among all skaters. His 1.17 points per game are second among blueliners and 20th in the NCAA. Buium’s 13 goals rank third in the country among rearguards, while his 35 assists lead defensemen nationally and are second in the NCAA among all skaters behind only Devine. Of his 13 goals, four were game-winners.
Devine (Glencoe, Ill.) leads the nation in scoring with both 57 points and 44 assists in 44 games after helping DU return to the Frozen Four. The Florida Panthers draft pick’s 1.30 points per game are seventh nationally, while he’s chipped in 13 goals on the season. He also captured the NCHC scoring title with 32 points in conference play. Devine was a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award for the second straight year and a finalist for NCHC Forward of the Year. He was also named to College Hockey News’ All-CHN Second Team this season.
Bump (Prior Lake, Minn.) has helped lead WMU to a historic season and the National Championship Game after the Broncos defeated Buium, Devine and Denver Thursday night at the Frozen Four. The Philadelphia Flyers draft pick was named NCHC Forward of the Year in March and was runner-up to Buium for NCHC Player of the Year, while he also garnered All-CHN First-Team honors with Buium. Bump is tied for ninth nationally with 23 goals this season, while adding 24 assists. His 47 points tie for 13th in the NCAA.
Bump also won the NCHC goal-scoring title with 15 goals in conference play to help WMU capture its first Penrose Cup, while scoring four game-winning goals this year. In March, the WMU assistant captain was named Most Outstanding Player of the NCHC Frozen Faceoff after a three-goal weekend to lead the Broncos to their first NCHC Tournament title. Bump also leads the country with 245 shots on goal, 54 more shots than any other NCAA players.
Shlaine (Moscow, Russia) was a spark for the Sun Devils in their first season in the NCHC, helping ASU finish in second place. The New Jersey Devils draft pick totaled 38 points in only 31 games, missing the first part of the season with an injury. Shlaine racked up 17 goals and 21 assists, with his 1.23 points per game ranking 15th in the NCAA. He was named to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff All-Tournament Team in March, won the NCHC’s Three Stars Award and was a finalist for both NCHC Player and Forward of the Year. Shlaine signed with the Texas Stars in the AHL on March 27.
Livanavage (Phoenix, Ariz.) was a stalwart and leader on North Dakota’s blue line this season to earn First-Team All-NCHC honors. He was also runner-up for NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year behind Buium. The undrafted free agent totaled 28 points in 38 games to rank 15th nationally among defensemen in scoring. Livanavage scored four goals and dished out 24 assists, which rank ninth among NCAA blueliners. He also finished second in the NCHC with 68 blocked shots this season, which was 22nd nationally.
The five All-Americans from the NCHC are the third-most from one conference in 2024-25 behind Hockey East’s eight and the Big Ten’s six. The NCHC has now produced
67 All-Americans in its 12-year history, including 34 First-Teamers.
A total of 24 players from 16 different teams were honored as 2024-2025 All-Americans on Friday, with 12 on the East Teams and 12 on the West Teams. The AHCA Division I Men’s All-American teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association, including all NCAA Division I men’s head coaches.
