FORWARD OF THE WEEK
Jayson Shaugabay, Minnesota Duluth
Sophomore Forward
Warroad, Minn.
Shaugabay had a monster, seven-point weekend to power Minnesota Duluth to a home-and-home sweep of Bemidji State. The seven (7) points led all players nationally during the week, while he posted back-to-back three-point games for the first time in his career. On Friday in Bemidji, Shaugabay tallied a career-high four points to rally the Bulldogs. The Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick scored UMD’s first goal Friday after the Bulldogs fell behind 2-0, then dished out a trio of primary assists, including two on the power play, to lead UMD to a 7-3 victory.
A night later in Duluth, Shaugabay potted the game’s first two goals, with his second serving as the game-winner, and added another assist in the 5-1 victory. It was his third career two-goal game and first this season. Shaugabay finished the series with three goals, tying for the NCHC weekend lead, and four assists. He scored on all three of his shots on goal and posted a +2 plus/minus on the weekend with four power play points.
Shaugabay now has points in five of six games this season, including four multi-point games. He is tied for first in the NCHC and second nationally with 12 points on the year, while his eight (8) assists are solely first in the NCHC and third in the NCAA.
DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Seth Constance, Colorado College
Sophomore Defenseman
Waterloo, Ill.
Constance had a career weekend to help No. 16 Colorado College sweep Northern Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. Entering with no points this season and one in his college career, the sophomore racked up three points in the pair of wins. On Friday, he handed out the primary assist on the game-tying goal midway through the third period of an eventual, 2-1, overtime win. The next night, Constance recorded his first career multi-point game. He scored his first collegiate goal to open the scoring, then added an assist on the final tally in a 5-2 victory on Saturday.
Constance finished the series with a goal and two assists, while posting a +2 plus/minus and blocking a shot. He also helped CC’s penalty kill finish the weekend 5-for-6. In his first year with the Tigers, Constance now has three points on a goal and two assists in six games. The Northeastern transfer has four points in his college career (1g/3a) now in 42 games.

The next night, the Second-Team All-NCHC honoree recorded his first shutout of the season and second of his career, compiling 19 stops in a 6-0 win to cap the sweep.
Slukynsky finished the series with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .973 save percentage, both of which led the NCHC on the weekend among goalies with two games played.
