NCHC Players of the Month Archive
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With the calendar turned to March, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) announced its February Players of the Month, with North Dakota picking up a pair of honors and Omaha claiming the third. North Dakota junior forward Jasper Weatherby earned NCHC Player of the Month, while his UND classmate, Adam Scheel, repeated as Goaltender of the Month. Omaha forward Brock Bremer garnered NCHC Rookie of the Month honors.
Scheel gloved his fourth career and second straight Goalie of the Month nod, while this is the first NCHC monthly honor for both Weatherby and Bremer. North Dakota has now claimed all three NCHC Player of the Month honors this season.
Player of the Month

Jasper Weatherby, North Dakota
Junior Forward
Ashland, Ore.
After ending January with goals in two straight games, Weatherby continued his tear through February, scoring at least a goal in all five games he played, while totaling 10 points to lead North Dakota to a 5-0-0 record in the month and the Penrose Cup as NCHC regular-season champions. The San Jose Sharks prospect scored an NCHC-best six goals in his five February games, while his 1.20 goals-per-game led the entire country during the month. He also dished out four assists, with his 10 points tying for the NCHC lead in February, while his 2.00 points-per-game led the conference. Two of Weatherby’s goals were game-winners, tying for the NCAA lead in the month, while he notched three multi-point games in February.
Weatherby opened the month with the game-winning goal against Denver Feb. 12, before tallying two goals and three points to cap the sweep a night later, earning him NCHC Forward of the Week honors. He then tallied a goal both nights in a sweep against Omaha Feb. 19-20, also setting up the game-winner in the finale. Weatherby then closed his month with another three-point game in a 4-2 win at Omaha Feb. 26, scoring the game-winner late in the third period on the power play.
Weatherby ended the month on a seven-game point streak with 12 points (8g/4a) during that span. He fired 21 shots on goal in February and posted a +2 plus/minus, with five of his points (3g/2a) coming on the power play. On the season, the assistant captain has a career-high 11 goals and 18 points total.
Weatherby is now eligible for Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) National Player of the Month, which will be announced later this week. Other nominees for NCHC Player of the Month included Western Michigan sophomore defenseman Ronnie Attard and Minnesota Duluth senior forward Nick Swaney.
Goaltender of the Month

Adam Scheel, North Dakota
Junior Goaltender

Scheel repeated as NCHC Goaltender of the Month after allowing only four goals in his four starts in February, backstopping North Dakota to a 4-0-0 record while in net and the Penrose Cup. The junior led the entire NCAA in February with both a .960 save percentage and a 1.01 goals-against average. He totaled 95 saves on 99 shots with one shutout.
Scheel opened the month with a 24-save whitewash of rival Denver on Feb. 12. He then allowed one goal each night in a sweep of then-No. 10 Omaha on Feb. 19-20, and made 30 saves in a 4-2 win at Omaha Feb. 26 to close his month.
