Earning Bauer NCHC weekly honors for week 6 are Minnesota Duluth senior Tanner Laderoute for Forward of the Week, St. Cloud State senior/graduate student Seamus Donohue for Defenseman of the Week, North Dakota senior Zach Driscoll for Goaltender of the Week and UND forward Matteo Costantini for Rookie of the Week.

These are the first career NCHC weekly awards for all four honorees.

Forward of the Week

Tanner Laderoute, Minnesota Duluth
Senior Forward
Edmonton, Alta.

Laderoute had a big, four-goal weekend to power Minnesota Duluth to a road split at then-No. 10 Western Michigan. The assistant captain notched two goals each night. In Friday’s 4-3 defeat, he twice tied the game, first at 2-2 in the second period off a deflection (the scoring was changed after the game), before knotting the game at 3-3 in the third period. The next night, Laderoute scored two of UMD’s three goals in a 3-0 shutout, doubling the lead with a short-handed, breakaway goal in the second period and sealing the victory in the third period.

Laderoute finished the series with four points (all goals), five shots on goal and a +3 plus/minus, posting a positive plus/minus each night. He tripled his season point total in the series, as Laderoute now has five goals and one assist for six points in eight games this season.

Defenseman of the Week

Seamus Donohue, St. Cloud State
Graduate Student Defenseman
North Oaks, Minn.

Donohue played a key role at both ends of the ice to help St. Cloud State pick up five points in a pair of wins at Colorado College to open NCHC play. Offensively, he tallied three points in the series, while helping limit the Tigers to three goals all weekend. On Friday, Donohue handed out a pair of primary assists in a 3-2 overtime victory, setting up Jami Krannila for the tying goal late in the third period, then again finding Krannila for the overtime game-winner. The next night, Donohue dished out another assist, was +2, and helped the penalty kill go 2-for-2 in a 4-1 victory.

Donohue ended the weekend with three assists, five shots on goal, a +3 plus/minus and four blocked shots, with two blocks each night. The assistant captain also anchored a penalty kill unit that finished 3-for-4 against CC in the series. On the season, Donohue now has seven assists and a +6 plus/minus in 10 games.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Zach Driscoll, North Dakota
Senior Goaltender
Apple Valley, Minn.

Driscoll put together a pair of sparkling performances in goal to backstop North Dakota to a sweep of then-No. 11 Denver, allowing only one goal each night. On Friday, he stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced, including 11 in the third period, as UND skated away with a 3-1 win. He also helped the penalty kill finish 3-for-3 on Friday. A night later, Driscoll made 21 more stops in a 4-1 victory as the Bemidji State transfer improved to 4-1-0 at home this season.

Driscoll compiled a .956 save percentage in the series, tops among NCHC netminders on the weekend, as was his 1.00 goals-against average against Denver. He totaled 43 saves in the sweep and has now allowed two goals or less in five of his nine starts this season. Driscoll also helped UND finish the series a perfect 4-for-4 on the power play.

Driscoll is now 6-3-0 on the season after the two wins over DU, while compiling a .904 save percentage and a 2.35 GAA on the season.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Matteo Costantini, North Dakota
Freshman Forward
St. Catharines, Ont.

Costantini continued his strong start to his college career, racking up three points in UND’s sweep of Denver last weekend, while stretching his point streak to three games. On Friday, the Buffalo Sabres draft pick opened the game’s scoring in the second period with his second career goal, helping pave the way for UND’s 3-1 win. Costantini again opened the scoring on Saturday, striking only 4:13 into the contest on a breakaway. He then dished out an assist on the game-winning goal later in the period, as UND rolled to a 4-1 victory. Saturday’s two-point outing marked his first career multi-point game as a Fighting Hawk.

Costantini finished the series with two goals, an assist, three shots on goal, one blocked shot and a +2 plus/minus. He also won four faceoffs each night against Denver for eight on the weekend. On the season, Costantini now has seven points on three goals and four assists in nine games.
