COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After leading their teams to weekend sweeps, all four Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Players of the Week for the week of Jan. 15-21, 2018 are from Minnesota Duluth or Denver. Earning Bauer NCHC Player of the Week honors for week 14 are UMD sophomore forward Joey Anderson for Offensive Player of the Week, Denver freshman blue liner Ian Mitchell for Defenseman of the Week, Bulldogs freshman defenseman Scott Perunovich for Rookie of the Week and DU senior netminder Tanner Jaillet for Goaltender of the Week.
For Anderson, this is his second career NCHC weekly honor but first Offensive Player of the Week nod, while Mitchell garnered his first career NCHC weekly award and Perunovich nabbed his fourth weekly honor of the year, including second Rookie of the Week accolade. Jaillet collected his eighth career NCHC Goaltender of the Week award, including second this season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Joey Anderson, Minnesota Duluth

Anderson led Minnesota Duluth to a sweep of North Dakota last weekend, piling up six points in the series, including five on the power play. On Friday, the New Jersey Devils draft pick opened the game’s scoring with a power play goal in the first period, while handing out the primary helper on UMD’s third goal, also on the man advantage, in an eventual 5-3 victory. His two-point night and four shots on goal earned him Third Star of the Game Friday. The next night, Anderson tallied a career-high four points, all on assists, in a 5-2 victory as he was named Second Star of the Game. He set up UMD’s final four goals in the comeback win, with three primary assists and three on the man advantage, including on the game-winning goal in the second period. Anderson finished the weekend with a goal, five assists and eight shots on goal, while leading UMD’s power play that finished 6-for-11 in the series. On the season, he has five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 17 games played.
Defenseman of the Week

Ian Mitchell, Denver

Mitchell had a big weekend at both ends of the ice to power Denver to a sweep of Omaha, tallying a career-best five points in the series, while helping the Pioneer defense record a pair of shutouts. On Friday, the Chicago Blackhawks prospect recorded a career-high four points, including a career-best three assists, in a 5-0 win. Mitchell handed out an assist on all three DU power play goals in Friday’s win, including the first goal, which was the game-winner, while scoring Denver’s second goal, only his second goal of the year, even strength as he was named Third Star of the Game. On Saturday, Mitchell tallied another assist on Troy Terry’s power play goal in the third period of a 4-0 win. Mitchell finished the weekend with a goal, four power play assists, two blocked shots and a +2 plus/minus, going +1 each night, while putting four shots on goal and leading a penalty kill that finished 8-for-8. On the season, he has 20 points, including 18 assists, in 24 games.
Rookie of the Week

Scott Perunovich, Minnesota Duluth
Freshman Defenseman
Hibbing, Minn.
Perunovich played a big part in helping UMD sweep North Dakota, tallying four points in the series while also leading the charge on both special teams. On Friday, the draft-eligible defenseman handed out a pair of assists, both in the second period, to help break a 1-1 tie as the Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead and never trailed again in a 5-3 win. The next night, Perunovich recorded his first career multi-goal game, striking twice on the power play in the second period 16 seconds apart to lead a UMD comeback. His first goal tied the game at 2-2, while ticks later he scored the game-winner in an eventual 5-2 victory to earn First Star of the Game. Perunovich ended the series with two goals, two assists, four shots on goal and one blocked shot. He also anchored a power play unit that finished 6-for-11, including three points from Perunovich, and led a penalty kill that went 10-for-11. On the season, he is fourth nationally among rookies and tops among NCHC freshmen with 23 points on six goals and 17 assists in 23 games.
GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Tanner Jaillet, Denver

Jaillet was perfect in Denver’s series against Omaha, not allowing a goal as he pitched a pair of shutouts to backstop DU to a sweep. In doing so, he recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time in his collegiate career and is the first Denver goalie to do so since Oct. 13-14, 2013. In Friday’s 5-0 win, Jaillet made a season-high 34 saves, including seven stops to kill all four Omaha power plays, which earned him Second Star of the Night. In the series finale, he stopped all 30 shots he faced in a 4-0 win as he was named First Star of the Game, again killing all four UNO power plays with seven saves on their man advantages. The two shutouts give him four on the season and eight for his career, while he has now played 130:02 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal, which is the 10th-longest shutout streak in Denver history. Jaillet finished with 64 saves in the series while his 1.000 save percentage upped his season save percentage to .926. He is now 13-5-4 on the season with a 2.00 goals-against average.

Henrik Borgström, So., F, Denver – Tallied five points and was +3 in a sweep of Omaha, handing out three assists on Friday, including on the game-winner, while scoring a goal and adding another helper Saturday.
Defenseman of the Week
Andrew Farny, Jr., D, CC – Blocked five shots, put five shots on goal and was +2 in a split at Western Michigan.
Cam Lee, So., D, WMU – Compiled four points in a split with CC, logging a career-high three assists in Friday’s 3-2 OT win, setting up the game-winner, while scoring a goal in Saturday’s OT loss.
Rookie of the Week
Troy Conzo, Fr., F, CC – Tallied three points and was +2 in a split at WMU, scoring a goal each night, while also adding an assist in Saturday’s win for his first career multi-point game.
