Bauer NCHC Player of the Week Archive
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After all eight National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) teams were in action last weekend, the Conference announced the Bauer NCHC Players of the Week for the week of Oct. 10-16 on Monday, with three different teams and all four years in school represented. Claiming NCHC Offensive Player of the Week is Minnesota Duluth sophomore forward Adam Johnson, while Denver senior blue liner Will Butcher is the NCHC Defenseman of the Week. Western Michigan freshman forward Wade Allison captured NCHC Rookie of the Week honors while DU junior Tanner Jaillet garnered NCHC Goaltender of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Adam Johnson, Minnesota Duluth
Sophomore Forward
Hibbing, Minn.
Johnson helped UMD to a split against then No. 5/6 Notre Dame, tallying three of the Bulldogs’ five goals in the series. On Friday, he recorded his first career multi-goal game with a pair of tallies, including his first career game-winning goal, as he broke a 3-3 tie to lift UMD to a 4-3 victory. Johnson was also plus-1 in the win and named the game’s first star. The next night, he scored the Bulldogs’ only goal of the game, which opened the scoring and put UMD in front in an eventual loss. Johnson is now riding a six-game point streak to start the season and put six shots on goal in the series while finishing with an even rating.

DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Will Butcher, Denver
Senior Defenseman
Sun Prairie, Wis.
Butcher anchored Denver’s blue line and helped limit then No. 2/2 Boston University to only four goals all weekend as the Pioneers swept the Terriers. Playing on DU’s top defensive pairing, the Colorado Avalanche draft pick handed out an assist in each victory while blocking eight shots in the series. In Friday’s 4-3 win, his primary assist set up the game’s first goal on the power play, while he added an assist on the final goal in Denver’s 3-1 victory Saturday. Butcher posted a plus-2 rating on Saturday as well and finished plus-2 on the weekend. The team captain played on both special teams units and led the DU penalty kill that went 7-for-9 on the weekend. Butcher also fired four shots on goal in the series. This is Butcher’s sixth career NCHC Defenseman of the Week honor, including four last season.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Wade Allison, Western Michigan

Allison had a huge four-point weekend, keying WMU to a 1-0-1 weekend against then No. 20 Bowling Green. In Friday’s 4-4 overtime tie, he netted two goals, scoring WMU’s first tally and adding the game-tying goal at 10:54 in the third period. The Philadelphia Flyers draft pick also scored the goal in the exhibition 3-on-3 overtime Friday night as he was named the game’s first star. In Saturday’s 8-2 win he dished out two assists, helping set up the game-winning goal, as well as WMU’s sixth goal of the game. All four of Allison’s points came on the power play, which went 9-for-22 in the two games, while it was his first collegiate multi-goal and multi-assist games. He put four shots on goal in the series.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Tanner Jaillet, Denver
Junior Goaltender
Red Deer, Alberta
Jaillet backstopped Denver to a sweep of then No. 2/2 Boston University, earning a pair of wins in net while posting a 2.00 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in the series. On Friday, he made 23 saves in a 4-3 victory, while the next night he stopped 24 shots while allowing only one goal, which came on the power play. Jaillet was named the game’s No. 2 star on Saturday when he helped kill 5-of-6 BU power plays. On the weekend, he compiled 47 saves on 51 shots with two of the four goals allowed coming on the man advantage, while he helped kill seven other Terrier power plays. This is Jaillet’s third career NCHC Goaltender of the Week honor.

Offensive Player of the Week
Joel Janatuinen, So., F, UND – Recorded his first collegiate hat trick on three shots in UND’s 5-2 win over RPI Saturday, including scoring the game-winning goal.
Jake Randolph, Jr., F, Omaha – Handed out four assists to help UNO win the Brice Alaska Goal Rush, including three in Saturday’s overtime win when he set up the game-winner, while logging a plus-2 rating.
Defenseman of the Week
Scott Moldenhauer, Jr., D, WMU – Totaled three points in WMU’s 8-2 win over BGSU Saturday on a goal and two assists, with the goal and one assist on the power play, while posting a plus-1 rating in the win.
Luc Snuggerud, Jr., D, Omaha – Scored a goal in Saturday’s win over Alaska and logged a plus-2 rating at the Brice Alaska Goal Rush.
Rookie of the Week
Henrik Borgstrom, Fr., F, DU – Tallied three points and a plus-2 rating in Saturday’s 3-1 win over BU, scoring two goals, including the game-winner, while assisting on the other goal.
Ludvig Hoff, Fr., F, UND – Handed out two assists and posted a plus-2 rating in UND’s 5-2 win over RPI, setting up the game-winner for his first career multi-point game.
Ryan Larkin, Fr., G, Miami – Made 23 saves in a 1-1 overtime tie with Ohio State Saturday for a .958 save percentage in Miami’s only game of the weekend.
Kris Oldham, Fr., G, Omaha – Made first collegiate start Friday and stopped 23 shots to lead UNO to a 3-1 win over Alaska-Anchorage as he posted a .958 save percentage in his only game of the weekend.
Goaltender of the Week
Trevor Gorsuch, So., G, WMU – Played in both games against BGSU, entering in relief Friday and starting Saturday, as he went 1-0-1 with a 1.82 GAA and a .917 save percentage, totaling 33 saves on 36 shots faced in the series.
