COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With the first month of the 2015-16 season already in the books, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) announced its monthly award winners for October on Tuesday. Claiming NCHC Player of the Month for October is St. Cloud State junior goaltender Charlie Lindgren, while Miami freshman forward Jack Roslovic was selected NCHC Rookie of the Month for October.

NCHC PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Charlie Lindgren

St. Cloud State
Junior Goaltender
Lakeville, Minn.

Lindgren started his junior season on fire, pitching shutouts in each of his first three starts this season, which set an SCSU program record for consecutive shutouts. He now has four shutouts in seven starts this season with his four whitewashes leading the NCAA. Lindgren has posted a 5-2-0 record (.714 win percentage) while helping the Huskies to a top-10 national ranking, starting all but one game this season in net. In October, Lindgren posted a .947 save percentage and a 1.43 goals-against average with his GAA leading NCHC netminders and ranking 10th nationally. Of the 10 goals he allowed during the opening month, nine came in one series (two games) as he has allowed just one goal in his other five outings.

Lindgren opened the season Oct. 9 with a 14-save shutout against Alaska in the Kendall Hockey Classic in Anchorage. After resting in the finale of the tournament, he returned between the pipes Oct. 16-17 and again did not allow a single goal, blanking then No. 14/15 Minnesota State twice for a home sweep. Lindgren stopped all 30 shots that came his way on Oct. 16 in a 4-0 win and made 24 more saves the next night for his third straight shutout. The 6-foot-2 junior was named the game’s first star both nights against the Mavericks while he also earned NCHC Goaltender of the Week and NCAA First Star of the Week honors for his perfect weekend.

Lindgren allowed his first goals of the season at No. 14/13 Quinnipiac Oct. 23 as he made 35 saves in a 5-2 loss, while stopping 26 shots the next night in a 4-1 defeat, his only losses of the month. Last weekend however, Lindgren rebounded, allowing just one goal in a sweep of then No. 15/14 Miami to open NCHC play. He made 15 saves on Oct. 30 against the RedHawks to complete his fourth shutout of the season, which already ranks second in SCSU single-season history, while he made 33 more saves the next night in a 3-1 victory. Lindgren garnered NCHC Goaltender of the Week honors for a second time for his efforts in the Miami series as he was the No. 2 star in both games with the RedHawks. In October, Lindgren topped the 30-save mark three times and compiled 177 saves in total on 187 shots, while giving up just two power play goals in 22 chances.

Lindgren is now a candidate for Hockey Commissioners’ Association (HCA) National Player of the Month for October, which will be announced on Wednesday. Other nominees for NCHC Player of the Month included Denver junior defenseman Will Butcher, Minnesota Duluth senior forward Tony Cameranesi, Omaha junior forward Jake Guentzel and North Dakota junior goaltender Matt Hrynkiw.

NCHC ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
Jack Roslovic

Miami
Freshman Forward
Columbus, Ohio

Roslovic opened his college career with a bang, recording eight points in his first eight collegiate games during the month of October as he led all NCHC rookies in scoring and tied for fourth nationally among freshmen. The Winnipeg Jets first-round draft pick tallied five goals and three assists over the first month of his career as he leads Miami in scoring, as well. His five goals tie for the NCAA lead among rookies, while three of his goals are game-winners, which rank second nationally among all players. He also has tallied a pair of power play goals and has a plus-3 rating on the season.

Roslovic has been consistent from the start, tallying at least one point in seven of his eight games, including starting his collegiate career with a six-game point streak. In his first game as a RedHawk, the 6-foot-1 center scored a power play goal for his first collegiate goal and the game’s first goal against defending national champions Providence Oct. 9, while he added an assist on the game-tying goal in an overtime tie the next night.

The next weekend Roslovic led Miami to a sweep of Ohio State as he scored the game-winning goal both nights. On Oct. 16 in Columbus, the Columbus, Ohio, native scored the game-winning goal in the closing minutes of a 3-2 victory, while the next night he tallied his first multi-point game with an assist and the game-winner again, as he was named the game’s first star in the 3-1 win. Roslovic also earned NCHC Rookie of the Week honors for his efforts against OSU.

Roslovic continued his tear on Oct. 23, scoring the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win at then No. 17 St. Lawrence to give Miami the victory. He then extended his point streak to six games with an assist in the series finale with the Saints. Roslovic saw his point streak snapped Oct. 30 at No. 14/13 St. Cloud State, but rebounded the next night to score Miami’s only goal, which was the first of the game, in a 3-1 loss. All eight of Roslovic’s points have either tied the game or given Miami the lead this season while he put 17 shots on goal during October.

Roslovic is now a candidate for Hockey Commissioners’ Association (HCA) National Rookie of the Month for October, which will be announced on Wednesday. Other nominees for NCHC Rookie of the Month included North Dakota freshman forward Brock Boeser, Colorado College freshman forward Trey Bradley, Western Michigan freshman forward Colt Conrad and Denver freshman forward Dylan Gambrell.
