On the fifth day of the 2026 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament, the quarterfinals begin with the two match-ups in the Goals Bracket.
Our first overall quarterfinal of the tournament/Goal of the Year semifinal features St. Cloud State junior Barrett Hall weaving through the North Dakota defense for a stellar short-handed goal in Week 10, going up against Hobey Baker Award winner Max Plante, who dekes the Lindenwood defense and does his best Bobby Orr impression to score for Minnesota Duluth in Week 13.
In the second quarterfinal/Goal of the Year semifinal on Monday, Denver freshman Brendan McMorrow uses a spin-o-rama to get past Miami and score a short-handed snipe in traffic in Week 10, while North Dakota defenseman Abram Wiebe steals the puck and scores with a strong move in overtime to beat Miami in Week 18.
Winning our final first round match-ups on Saturday were Wiebe and Western Michigan goalie Hampton Slukynsky. Wiebe clipped ASU's Noah Powell with 67 percent of the vote, while Slukynsky defeated UMD's Adam Gajan with 58 percent of the vote. Wiebe is back in the bracket today while Slukynsky faces Colorado College's Kaidan Mbereko in the last quarterfinal on Tuesday. Slukynsky has a save in both Save of the Year semifinals up for voting tomorrow.
Videos for both of today's match-ups are below with the poll to vote below each video. Voting will remain open until Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, when the last two quarterfinal match-ups, both on the Saves Bracket side, are posted and today's winners are announced. The winners of today's match-ups meet in the Goal of the Year final on Wednesday, April 22. The entire bracket (with schedule) can be seen at the bottom of the page.
