On day six of the 2025 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament, we have the last two quarterfinal match-ups available for fan voting. All four plays are goals with a Western Michigan tally in each, including one match-up of overtime game-winners.
Wednesday's first match-up features Arizona State's Artem Shlaine, who uses a nifty move and some speed to score at Denver in Week 8, going up against Western Michigan's Owen Michaels, who rips a goal after some dazzling stickwork at Colorado College in Week 16.
In the fourth and final quarterfinal of the tournament, WMU star Alex Bump makes a strong defensive play and scores in double overtime to win the Frozen Faceoff for the Broncos over DU, while CC's Bret Link uses speed and dirty dangles to score in overtime and defeat Western Michigan in Week 16.
Winning our first two quarterfinals Tuesday were North Dakota goalie T.J. Semptimphelter and Omaha forward Cameron Mitchell. Semptimphelter won an all-goalie battle with CC's Kaidan Mbereko, taking 80 percent of the 416 votes cast, while Mitchell advanced with 68 percent of the vote over UMD goalie Klayton Knapp. Semptimphelter and Mitchell will now meet in the first semifinal on Thursday, April 24.
Videos for both of today's quarterfinal match-ups are below with the poll to vote below each video. Voting will remain open until Thursday at 2 p.m. ET, when the first semifinal match-up is posted and today's winners are announced. Today's winners move on to meet in the second semifinal on Friday, April 25. The entire bracket (with schedule) can be seen at the bottom of the page.
