On day two of the 2025 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament our second set of first-round match-ups are available for fan voting. Both match-ups pit a save against a goal.
Our first match-up Thursday features Minnesota Duluth goalie Klayton Knapp's sprawling stick save at Omaha in Week 17, going up against North Dakota's Jackson Kunz from Week 4 when he used some nifty moves to score against Boston University despite being tripped.
In the second first-round match-up Thursday, another save from Denver's Matt Davis is on display, as he makes a ridiculous glove save in traffic against Colorado College in Week 11, while Omaha's Cam Mitchell scores the overtime game-winner against Holy Cross with a nice deke at the 2025 Cactus Cup in Week 12.
Winning our first two match-ups from Wednesday were UND's T.J. Semptimphelter and Colorado College's Kaidan Mbereko. Semptimphelter won with 85 percent of the 228 votes over SCSU's Austin Burnevik, while Mbereko clipped his Gold Pan counterpart, knocking out Davis's first save with 60 percent of the vote. Semptimphelter and Mbereko will meet in a quarterfinal on April 22.
Videos for both of today's match-ups are below with the poll to vote below each video. Voting will remain open until Friday at 6 p.m. ET, when the next two first-round match-ups are posted and today's winners are announced. Today's winners move on to meet in the second quarterfinal on April 22. The entire bracket (with schedule) can be seen at the bottom of the page.
