2025 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament: First Round - Day 1

Match-ups for April 16 feature UND's Semptimphelter vs. SCSU's Burnevik and DU's Davis vs. CC's Mbereko

After unveiling the full bracket and all 16 entrants in the 2024-25 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament on Tuesday, the first two match-ups in the 2025 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament are open for fan voting. One first-round match-up pits a save against a goal, while the other match-up has a pair of stellar stops going up against each other.

Our first match-up Wednesday has a pair of plays from Week 6, as North Dakota goalie T.J. Semptimphelter makes a sprawling glove save behind him at Minnesota Duluth, while St. Cloud State's Austin Burnevik uses some nifty stick-work to score against Miami.

In the second first-round match-up Wednesday, Denver's Matt Davis makes a diving stop against Arizona State in Week 8, while Colorado College's Kaidan Mbereko denies Providence in Week 10 with an off-balance kick save.

Videos for both of today's match-ups are below with the poll to vote below each video. Voting will remain open until Thursday at 4 p.m. ET, when the next two first-round match-ups are posted and today's winners are announced. Today's winners move on to meet in the quarterfinals on April 22. The entire bracket (with schedule) can be seen at the bottom of the page.
