2020 NCHC PLAY OF THE YEAR TOURNAMENT: FIRST ROUND - DAY 2

Match-ups For March 12 Feature David Hrenak vs. Kohen Olischefski and Koby Bender vs. Ethen Frank

On day two of the 2020 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament, presented by TRIA Orthopaedic Center, our second set of first-round match-ups are available for fan voting.

In the first match-up, St. Cloud State junior David Hrenak makes an absolute robbery of a glove save on a wide open net against Northern Michigan in week 6, while Denver forward Kohen Olischefski taps in a puck out front after teammate Brett Stapley puts the moves on a Niagara defender in week 5.

In the other first-round match-up Thursday, Western Michigan forward Ethen Frank receives a deep pass and puts a Bowling Green defenseman through the spin cycle for a backhand goal in week 2, while Minnesota Duluth forward Koby Bender buries a one-timer out front after a receiving a blind spin-o-rama pass from behind the net against Minnesota in week 4.

Winning our first two match-ups from Wednesday were North Dakota's Jordan Kawaguchi and Colorado College forward Jack Gates. Kawaguchi overwhelmingly topped Denver's Tyler Ward with 89 percent of the vote, while Gates nipped SCSU's Nick Poehling with 68 percent of the vote. Kawaguchi and Gates meet in a quarterfinal on March 16.

Voting will remain open until Friday evening, when the next two first-round match-ups are posted and today's winners are announced. The winners of today's match-ups will meet in the second quarterfinal on March 16. The entire bracket can be seen at the bottom of the page.
