After unveiling all 16 plays and the bracket, the 2020 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament, presented by TRIA Orthopaedic Center, gets underway today (Wednesday) with the first two first-round match-ups.
In the first match-up, North Dakota forward Jordan Kawaguchi corrals a loose puck behind the goal line and goes between the legs for a highlight reel goal in week 13, while Denver's Tyler Ward turns on the afterburners and flies through Miami defensemen for a top shelf finish in week 20.
In the other first-round match-up Wednesday, CC forward Jack Gates flips on the jets to beat an Omaha defender to score a shorthanded goal while being tripped in week 16, while St. Cloud State senior Nick Poehling plays baseball and bats a pass in front out of the air for a goal against Miami in week 17.
Videos of both match-ups are below with the poll to vote below each video. Voting will remain open until Thursday evening, when the next two first-round match-ups are posted and today's winners are announced. The winners of Wednesday's match-ups will meet in one quarterfinal on March 16. The entire bracket can be seen at the bottom of the page.
