With the first round complete, we feature our first two quarterfinal match-ups on Monday in the 2018 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament, presented by TRIA Orthopaedic Center, with three goals and a save from four teams represented.
In the first quarterfinal, St. Cloud State's Ryan Poehling puts his stick between his legs and shoots top shelf against UND in the final weekend of the regular season (week 20), while Omaha goalie Evan Weninger makes a diving save to prevent a goal against UND in week 18.
In the second quarterfinal on Monday, North Dakota's Cole Smith finishes some nifty passing between the legs in week 2, while Western Michigan freshman Austin Rueschhoff weaves through UND's defense for a goal in week 9.
Winning our final two first-round match-ups were Denver goalie Tanner Jaillet and SCSU's Mikey Eyssimont. Jaillet beat CC forward Trevor Gooch with 57 percent of the vote, while Eyssimont topped UMD goalie Hunter Shepard with 59 percent of the vote. Jaillet and Eyssimont meet in the last quarterfinal on March 13.
