On day two of the 2026 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament our second set of first-round match-ups are available for fan voting, once again with one goal match-up and one save match-up.
Our goal match-up Thursday features Miami's Doug Grimes using his off hand to stretch and muscle the puck into the net against Omaha in Week 14, going up against Hobey Baker Award winner Max Plante, who weaves through the Lindenwood defense and does his best Bobby Orr impression to score for Minnesota Duluth in Week 13.
In the save match-up Thursday, Western Michigan's Hampton Slukynsky makes a triple-save against St. Cloud State from point-blank range in Week 5, while Miami's Matteo Drobac robs Denver with a sprawling blocker save in Week 10.
Winning our first two match-ups from Wednesday were SCSU's Barrett Hall and Denver's Johnny Hicks. Hall defeated Omaha's Marcus Nguyen with 58 percent of the vote, while Hicks knocked out SCSU's Yan Shostak with 71 percent of the vote. Hall will face the winner of today's goal match-up in the quarterfinals on April 20, while Hicks will go up against the winner of today's save match-up on April 21.
Videos for both of today's match-ups are below with the poll to vote below each video. Voting will remain open until Friday at 6 p.m. ET, when the next two first-round match-ups are posted and today's winners are announced. The entire bracket (with schedule) can be seen at the bottom of the page.
