On day four of the 2024 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament our final set of first-round match-ups are available for fan voting. The first match-up pits a save and a shootout goal against each other, while the other has two goals going head-to-head.
In the first match-up on Saturday, Miami goalie Bruno Bruveris flashes the leather with a lightning-fast glove save in overtime at Denver in Week 19, while Minnesota Duluth's Ben Steeves scores a shootout goal one-handed at Miami in Week 10.
In the last first-round match-up, UND senior Riese Gaber dekes an Alaska Nanooks defenseman and the goaltender for a goal in Week 12, while Denver junior Massimo Rizzo weaves through the Air Force defense to score a diving goal in Week 4.
Winning our first round match-ups from Friday were two North Dakota plays by Cam Berg/Jackson Blake and Ludvig Persson. Berg/Blake received 88 percent of the 510 votes to top Denver's Zeev Buium, while Persson advanced with 70 percent of the vote over fellow goalie Kaidan Mbereko of Colorado College. Berg/Blake and Persson will meet in a quarterfinal on April 9.
