COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After winning National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC)
Player of the Month on Wednesday, Denver senior forward
Jack Devine was selected the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) men’s National Player of the Month for October, the
HCA announced on Friday.

Devine (Glencoe, Ill.) picked up where he left off last season, leading Denver to a 6-0-0 start to the year and leading the country in October with 14 points. His 2.33 points per game are also first nationally among players with more than two games played. Devine, a First-Team All-NCHC honoree last year, recorded points in all six Denver games to open the season, including five multi-point outings. The Florida Panthers draft pick handed out 13 assists, also tops in the NCAA in October (three more than any other player), and scored a goal during the first month of the season.
Devine recorded a career-high four assists in the season opener on Oct. 5 at Alaska Anchorage, while dishing out two assists in four other contests, including the series finale at UAA. He scored his lone goal of October in a 6-1 win over then-No. 20 Wisconsin on Oct. 26, which was part of a three-point game. Devine is now riding a career-long six-game point and assist streak into November.
Devine finished October with 18 shots on goal, including a career-high-tying seven Oct. 25 vs. Wisconsin. He also posted a +3 plus/minus in the month. With his 14 points this season, Devine now has 120 points (45g/75a) in 124 career games, with the 120 points the most among active NCHC players and ranking 55th all-time at Denver.
Along with Devine, Union freshman forward Ben Muthersbaugh was named HCA Men’s Rookie of the Month and Augustana’s Josh Kotai and Notre Dame’s Owen Say shared
Men’s Goaltender of the Month for October. Western Michigan freshman forward Zach Nehring was a runner-up for National Rookie of the Month, while St. Cloud State sophomore Isak Posch was a runner-up for National Goaltender of the Month, after both earned NCHC monthly honors for October.
Last season, Denver captured three national monthly awards with former forward Massimo Rizzo also earning October Player of the Month for 2023, current sophomore defenseman Zeev Buium earning co-National Player of the Month in November and current senior Matt Davis garnering Goaltender of the Month in March and April en route to a national championship.
Devine and the top-ranked Pioneers are at Yale for a pair of games this weekend, starting tonight with puck drop at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
