Previous Bauer NCHC Players of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three teams are represented among the Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Players of the Week for the week of Oct. 11-17, 2021. Earning Bauer NCHC honors for week 3 are a pair of Pioneers in Denver sophomore Carter Savoie for Forward of the Week and freshman Sean Behrens for Defenseman of the Week, while Omaha junior Isaiah Saville gloves Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season and St. Cloud State defenseman Jack Peart is the Rookie of the Week. All four weekly honorees are NHL draft picks.
Forward of the Week

Carter Savoie, Denver
Sophomore Forward
St. Albert, Alta.
Savoie had a record-setting weekend to power Denver to a sweep of in-state foe Air Force, compiling seven points in the two wins. In Friday’s opener at the Air Force Academy, the Edmonton Oilers draft pick scored the game’s first goal on the power play in a 4-1 victory. A night later on home ice, Savoie erupted for a career-high six points in an 8-0 thumping of the Falcons, setting the NCHC record for points in a game (previously five, multiple times). He recorded his first collegiate hat trick in Saturday’s win in Denver, while also dishing out three assists. All of his helpers were primary assists, with all of his points coming on DU’s first six goals, including completing his hat trick on DU’s fifth tally. Two of his goals Saturday came on the power play.
Savoie finished the series with the Falcons with four goals, three assists, 13 shots on goal and a +4 plus/minus. By recording points in both games, Savoie stretched his point streak to four games to start the year. His hat trick was Denver’s first since Tyler Ward on Feb. 21, 2020 vs. Miami. On the season, Savoie leads the NCHC with 11 points and is tied for the conference lead in goals (5) and assists (6), while his 2.75 points per game lead the entire NCAA.
This is Savoie’s first career Forward of the Week honor and second career NCHC weekly honor (Rookie of the Week once last year).
Defenseman of the Week

Sean Behrens, Denver
Freshman Defenseman
Barrington, Ill.
Behrens was a key contributor at both ends of the ice for Denver in their home-and-home sweep of Air Force, racking up four points while limiting the Falcons to one goal all weekend. In Friday’s 4-1 win at Air Force, the Colorado Avalanche draft pick dished out an assist on DU’s first goal, which came on the power play. The next night, Behrens tallied a career-high three assists, two of which were primary and two on the man advantage, and helped pitch a shutout as Denver rolled over the Falcons, 8-0. He also played on a penalty kill unit that finished 7-for-8 in the series.
Behrens ended the weekend with four assists, four shots on goal, four blocked shots and a +3 plus/minus. He is now on a four-game assist/point streak to open his collegiate career, with six assists in that span. His six points on the year lead all NCHC defensemen and tie for sixth among all NCHC skaters.
This is Behrens’ first career NCHC weekly award.
GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Isaiah Saville, Omaha
Junior Goaltender
Anchorage, Alaska
Saville was rock-solid in net for Omaha last weekend, backstopping the Mavericks to a home sweep of Alaska, while running his winning streak to a career-best five games. He allowed only three goals in the two games, making 21 saves in Friday’s 3-2 overtime victory, before making 19 more stops in a 5-1 win on Sunday. The Vegas Golden Knights prospect also helped Omaha finish 9-for-10 on the penalty kill, with one of his three goals allowed coming on the power play.
Saville finished the series with 40 saves on 43 shots for a .930 save percentage, while recording a 1.48 goals-against average in the two wins. On the season, the junior is now 5-1-0, with his five wins tops in the NCHC, while he carries a .919 save percentage and 1.81 GAA in six starts.
Saville is now a two-time NCHC Goaltender of the Week this season, also winning for week 1, while he has three career NCHC Goalie of the Week nods and five career NCHC weekly honors.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jack Peart, St. Cloud State
Freshman Defenseman
Grand Rapids, Minn.
Peart had a break-through weekend in St. Cloud State’s split with Minnesota, tallying two points and playing on SCSU’s second defensive pair. In Friday’s 2-1 win at Minnesota, the Minnesota Wild draft pick handed out an assist on the game-winning goal in the third period and helped the Huskies’ penalty kill finish the game 3-for-3. A night later in St. Cloud, Peart scored his first career goal, which came unassisted, to tie the game at 2-2 in the third period of an eventual, 4-3 overtime loss. He also blocked two shots in Saturday’s contest.
For the weekend, Peart tallied a goal, an assist, two shots on goal, three blocked shots and had an even plus/minus. The Huskies penalty kill went 4-for-4 in the series, as well. On the season, Peart is tied for the team lead in assists with three and has four points total.
