2019 NCHC Play of the Year Champion: SCSU's Sam Hentges

Fans voted and selected Hentges' goal from week 17 as the top play of 2018-19

Over the last two weeks, fans have voted in the 2019 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament, presented by TRIA Orthopaedic Center, and for the second straight season, St. Cloud State is home to the winning play. SCSU freshman forward Sam Hentges' goal from week 17 was revealed as the 2018-19 Play of the Year, as selected by fans, during the 2019 NCHC Frozen Faceoff championship game on Saturday night.

In the NCHC Play of the Year, Hentges stick-handles through the Colorado College defense and scores from his knees top-shelf while being tripped up for a penalty on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Hentges won the championship match-up against Denver's Brett Stapley, earning 57 percent of the vote. Last year, current SCSU junior forward Ryan Poehling was voted as the 2017-18 Play of the Year in the NCHC.
