2018 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament: First Round - Day 3

Match-ups for March 9 feature DU's Borgstrom vs. CC's Leclerc and UMD's Shepard vs. SCSU's Brodzinski

On the third day of our 2018 NCHC Play of the Year Tournament, presented by TRIA Orthopaedic Center, two more sets of first-round match-ups take place with each pitting a save and a goal against each other.

In the first match-up, Denver's Henrik Borgström skates in tight to the net and uses a nifty move to score in week 6, while Colorado College's Alex Leclerc makes a leg-pad save on 2-on-0 breakaway against WMU from week 20.

In the other first-round match-up on March 9, UMD's Hunter Shepard does the splits for a point-blank save against CC from week 13, while SCSU's Easton Brodzinski finishes a steal and great passing from his teammates in week 16.

Winning our second two first-round match-ups from Thursday were UND's Cole Smith and WMU's Austin Rueschhoff. Smith just edged Denver's Liam Finlay with 51 percent of the vote, while Rueschhoff topped DU's Logan O'Connor with 59 percent of the vote. Smith and Rueschhoff meet in a quarterfinal on March 12.

Videos of both of today's match-ups are below with the poll to vote below each video. Voting will remain open until Saturday night, when the final two first-round match-ups are posted and today's winners are announced. The winners of today's match-ups will meet in the third quarterfinal on March 13. The entire bracket can be seen at the bottom of the page.
